First Phosphate Corp. (CSE:PHOS, OTCQB:FRSPF) has signed a technology licence agreement (TLA) with Prayon of Belgium to produce merchant-grade phosphoric acid (MGA) and high-purity gypsum from igneous apatite phosphate rock.
The agreement allows First Phosphate to design, build, and operate a Canadian MGA manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 600 metric tons of P2O5 per day.
It has chosen Ballestra of Italy, an official licensee of Prayon, to handle engineering services for the project.
Additionally, its July 2023 partnership with Norfalco, a division of Glencore Canada, ensures a stable supply of sulfuric acid for the planned facility.
With these agreements, First Phosphate aims to process 500,000 tonnes of igneous apatite annually, producing up to 190,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid said First Phosphate CEO John Passalacqua.
Prayon's Benoît Van Massenhove highlighted the partnership's role in advancing sustainable, high-value product development and recycling within a circular economy.
