GoviEx Uranium posts sustainability report ahead of next development stage at Muntanga project

GoviEx Uranium Inc (TSX-V:GXU, OTCQX:GVXXF) has published a sustainability report as part of efforts to ensure adequate practices are in place ahead of development at its Muntanga project in Zambia.

Covering the year to June, the report follows focus on meeting global sustainability standards, such as those from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), GoviEx said.

Some 559.8 gigajoules of energy was consumed over the year across GoviEx’s operations, while scope one emissions sat at 590.8 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.

8,740 cubic meters of water was withdrawn to cover operations in the meantime, the report showed.

“[This] reflects the progress we've made in embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our operations,” chief executive Daniel Major said.

“By aligning with internationally recognized guidelines such as those of the IFC, we are demonstrating our commitment to responsible and transparent practices.”

GoviEx added it was positioning itself for the next stage of development at Muntanga, with the feasibility study due shortly and construction expected once financing was secured.

“These efforts not only reflect our dedication to sustainability but also improve our ability to meet the expectations of stakeholders such as the communities around our Muntanga project and lending banks, which increasingly require robust ESG reporting and policies before committing to project financing,” Major added.
