JD Sports Fashion PLC (LSE:JD.) has completed its acquisition of French sports retailer Groupe Courir for €520 million.
Courir operates 323 stores across France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Luxembourg, as well as franchised outlets in North West Africa, the Middle East, and French overseas territories. It also adds Courir’s three women's ‘Naked’ branded sneaker concept stores.
To comply with European Commission competition regulations, JD has agreed to sell 15 stores in France and all six of the Portugal stores by the first quarter of 2026.
“The completion of our acquisition of Courir is an exciting milestone for our Complementary Concepts strategy in Europe and we look forward to working with its experienced management team as we deliver on our growth plans,” chief executive Régis Schultz said in a statement.
“This acquisition will broaden the JD Group's customer reach adding a more female, fashion-conscious and older customer base to complement the Group's core customers."
