Helix Exploration moves onto next test at Clink after secondary target disappoints

HeLIX Exploration PLC (AIM:HEX) has announced a disappointing result from testing a secondary target in its Clink-1, which yielded a discovery in the primary target earlier this month.

Testing in the Amsden formation found sub-economic levels of helium, the company said.

Amsden was a secondary target and represented less than 6% of the project’s estimated helium resource, which stood at 2.3 billion cubic feet (Bcf) in total before drilling.

Helix said it now plans to move forward with acidisation and testing of the Charles formation, another secondary target in Clink-1. Initially, in this zone, the company measured up to 672 parts per million helium in drilling mud and strong gas effects in wireline logging.

"While not the results we were hoping for from the Amsden formation, one of three reservoir targets in the Clink #1 well, there is significant opportunity within the Ingomar project from the Charles formation, where acidisation and appraisal is due to commence, and our primary target in the Flathead formation which has supported the case for the Ingomar Dome with the presence of 2.5% helium and 55% hydrogen,” chief executive Bo Sears said in a statement.

Meanwhile, HeLIX noted that the testing of the recently drilled Rudyard’s Darwin 1 well is scheduled to commence next week, on December 2.

Sears added: “We are confident about the upcoming developments at both Ingomar and Rudyard well tests and look forward to sharing results in due course."
