Torr Metals completes geochemical exploration at Filion gold project in Ontario

Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) said it has wrapped up a large-scale surface geochemical exploration program at its 100%-owned Filion gold project in northern Ontario.

The program involved collecting 1,092 soil samples and 44 rock grab samples across the 261 square kilometre property.

Filion, which is accessible year-round via Trans-Canada Highway 11, is fully permitted for drilling and boasts strong infrastructure, including proximity to a regional railway and the provincial power grid.

At Filion West, Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) completed an 8.8 square kilometre soil sampling and prospecting grid over previously underexplored geophysical anomalies, historical trenches, and gold occurrences. Its work builds on 2023 results, which identified six gold soil anomalies with strike lengths up to 1,200 meters and grades reaching 1.32 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Advanced LiDAR technology revealed 17 previously undocumented historical trenches along a 3 km strike-length. These trenches coincide with anomalous 2023 gold soil findings, including high-grade historical assays of up to 91.4 g/t gold over 0.3 meters and 9.1 g/t gold in grab samples at the Miller East and Oscar Zones.

Recent mapping of mineralized outcrops has confirmed similar geology and structural controls in the Filion East area, previously unexplored.

Malcolm Dorsey, CEO of Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET), called the program a “pivotal phase” for the project.

“The successful completion of a comprehensive soil sampling and prospecting grid in Filion West along with multiple high-priority discoveries highlights the project’s exceptional untapped potential, while adding significant value to our 2023 work,” Dorsey said in a statement.

Torr Metals will soon begin a ground magnetic and very low frequency electromagnetic (VLF-EM) geophysical survey over the Filion West soil grid.

Results from these efforts will help prioritize future drill targets, Dorsey added.
