Launching the Circular Future Fund (CFF) in partnership with Boston Global, Planet Ark has created a dedicated investment fund focused on building the circular supply chains that will ensure a stable environment and economy into the future.
The CFF has been designed to change our approach to materials and waste, turning by-products into useful materials and reusing and upcycling materials for as long as possible.
CFF will support projects and innovations that contribute to that end, while directly benefiting Australian businesses and communities in step with safeguarding the environment.
Building a sustainable, prosperous future
Planet Ark CEO Rebecca Gilling said the fund could have a transformative impact on circularity in Australia’s economy.
“This partnership with Boston Global and the launch of the Australian Circular Future Fund is a pivotal step in our mission to transform Australia’s economy,” she said.
“We believe this fund will be instrumental in driving the circular transition and setting new benchmarks for sustainability.”
Boston Global funds management business chair Leigh Higgins agreed, emphasising the fund’s potential to shape the future of Australia’s economic landscape.
"By investing in circular innovations, we are advancing a sustainable and prosperous future while enabling the business sector to harness the opportunities the circular economy presents," he said.
The CFF will potentially offer up to $1 billion in funds within the next five years, focused on solving the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and toxic pollution.
The fund will target a variety of sectors, including:
- Recycling and waste management - Enhancing existing recycling systems and developing advanced recycling technologies.
- Product design - Encouraging companies to adopt circular design principles, creating products that are longer-lasting, repairable and recyclable.
- Renewable resources - Supporting the development of bio-based materials and renewable energy solutions that are scalable and sustainable.
The CFF will be open to investors and innovators who share a vision of a circular Australian economy.
