Yandal Resources RC results support emerging Siona gold discovery

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has received the first assay results from a follow-up reverse circulation (RC) program at Siona gold discovery of the New England Granite target within the broader Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in Western Australia.

Since the company commenced RC drilling earlier this month it has drilled 10 holes for a total of 2,200 metres, testing around 500 metres of strike.

Yandal highlighted the following significant results:

Drill hole 24IWBRC0039 re-entry extended the original intercept by 29 metres to 107 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 96 metres to end of hole (estimated true width of ~30 metres), including 5 metres at 3.2 g/t from 109 metres and 33 metres at 1.4 g/t from 139 metres.

A scissor hole to the 24IWBRC0039 intercept returned 35 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 122 metres in 24IWBRC0046 (estimated true width of ~28 metres), including 28 metres at 1.4 g/t from 131 metres.

24IWBRC0047, around 40 metres along strike of 24IWBRC0039, returned 80 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 67 metres (estimated true width of ~28 metres), including 5 metres at 3.2 g/t from 109 metres and 33 metres at 1.4 g/t from 83 metres.

Follow-up drilling planned

In light of these results, Yandal has extended the RC program at Siona and preparations are being made for diamond drilling.

The current drilling focus will now shift to testing structural targets proximal to Siona.

Yandal Resources managing director Chris Oorschot said: “These initial results and geological observations enable the exploration team to verify the approximate geometry of mineralisation at Siona.

“This confirms the current geological model the technical team is applying to target further mineralisation across Siona and we are looking forward to seeing further results over the coming weeks.

“With the approximate geometry of mineralisation confirmed, RC drilling will now focus on testing the broader extent of mineralisation and targeting potential parallel positions while the team awaits further results.

“Testing these Siona adjacent positions will provide an early indication of the magnitude of the broader mineralised system across the New England Granite.

“Mineralisation is very visual, which is excellent, as it allows the team to make real-time interpretations and decisions regarding the current drill program. The exploration team will continue to refine and expand the drilling program as geological observations are made.”

Large-scale New England Granite target area

Additionally, Yandal has received five of the six remaining RC holes from the October RC drilling program testing structural targets across the large-scale New England Granite target area have also been received.

Results demonstrate elevated gold associated with several early-stage structural targets across the broad-scale New England Granite. These results will be further assessed as more geological details regarding Siona are received.

The New England Granite target area (within E 53/1843) is part of the broader IWB Gold Project, which is 45 kilometres north of Northern Star’s Bronzewing mining centre and 75 kilometres south of the Jundee mining centre, within the Yandal Greenstone Belt.

What’s next?

Yandal expects further results from the RC drilling program across Siona over the coming weeks.

The exploration team has expanded the current follow-up RC drilling program at Siona and commenced preparation for diamond drilling. Subject to weather conditions, Yandal will commence diamond drilling at Siona in either December or January with preparations being made for the mobilisation of a diamond rig to Siona.

While the company awaits further RC results, drilling will focus on testing structural targets adjacent to Siona.

The exploration team will also begin collecting geochemical data to aid in characterising and targeting mineralisation. Planning of several geophysical investigations is also underway, including more detailed ground gravity and passive seismic.

Results from the second phase of soil sampling covering the broader Caladan target have been received and will be released once processing and analysis are complete. Aircore drilling results from across the Caladan and Irulan target areas are anticipated in 3-6 weeks.
