Bit Digital’s revenue growth and $100M target explained – ICYMI

Bit Digital Inc (NASDAQ:BTBT) earlier this week highlighted significant growth in its Q3 2024 financial results, reporting a 96% increase in revenue. The company attributed this growth to the success of its high-performance computing (HPC) business, a new line launched earlier this year.

The company said it achieved $12.2 million in HPC revenue during the quarter, up from zero in the prior year. It is now operating at an $80 million annualized revenue run rate and expects to reach $100 million by the end of the year.

Bit Digital explained that booming demand for AI applications has made the HPC sector increasingly profitable. It has leveraged its experience in Bitcoin mining to source and connect specialized computing equipment to urban data centers. A formal partnership with Nvidia further enhances its ability to meet the computational demands of AI developers.

The company has also expanded its data center portfolio with strategic acquisitions such as Enovum in Montreal. It noted that latency is critical for AI inference, requiring data centers to be located in metropolitan areas. Bit Digital is developing a 288 MW pipeline of such urban facilities to secure future growth.

While the company recognized an unrealized loss in its digital assets, it expects this to improve. Bit Digital emphasized that HPC provides more predictable revenues compared to the volatility of Bitcoin mining.

Investors may view the company’s Q3 performance and its plans for urban HPC expansion as potential catalysts for future growth.
