Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) CEO Martin Rosser talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s maiden drilling program at the Mbe South Prospect in Cameroon.
Proactive: Hello, you're watching Proactive. I'm joined by Oriole Resources CEO Martin Rosser. Martin, very good to speak with you. You've announced the commencement of the maiden drilling program at Mbe. Could you provide us with an overview, please?
Martin Rosser: Thank you, Stephen, and good morning. I'm delighted to be speaking to you from Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. I'm here to meet dignitaries, officials, colleagues, and partners. It coincides with the announcement today on the commencement of our maiden drilling program at Mbe, a very exciting moment for us. The maiden program kicks off with 6,590 meters of drilling in 24 holes at the Mbe South Prospect.
Proactive: Martin, the decision to start drilling was taken following a series of successful trenching results. What did these results tell you ahead of the program?
Martin Rosser: Well, the trenching results, which we've reported, were very good indeed. They've identified a significant area, a mineralized corridor in Mbe South, of 500 meters length. Significant widths were intersected in the trenches. So the area of the prospect is very significant, and that's why we need to move to the drilling.
Proactive: Martin, I understand that you're starting with some initial scissored drill holes. What are you expecting these to indicate for the rest of the program?
Martin Rosser: Yes. The initial four holes are what's called scissor holes. They will be drilled on an East-West line. Effectively, they are to test the structural orientation of the mineralized zone at depth. Obviously, when we do the planning for the drilling program, we come up with what we think is the best estimate of that mineralized zone structural orientation. But these holes are designed to review and confirm exactly what we've got there.
Proactive: So the initial drilling program is for the MB01-S Prospect. Do you have any plans for the MB01-N?
Martin Rosser: Well, MB01-S is the most promising and significant-sized area for testing. As far as the northern prospect, we will consider the work, the drilling on that in due course. But our focus is on Mbe South at this time.
