Ananda set for heightened industry interest as clinical trials advance - broker

Success in clinical trials, using Ananda Developments Plc's (AQSE:ANA) cannabinoid formulations, could generate significant industry and clinical interest, according to broker SP Angel.

Liam Gascoigne-Cohen, analyst at SP Angel, in a recent research note highlighted that the planned trials would represent a significant validation of Ananda’s science-led approach and, significantly, that the Aquis quoted small-cap’s progress to date is “not fully captured” by the company market valuation.

A note, following news that multiple Ananda-developed formulations would be assessed via investigator-led clinical trials, took a deep-dive analysis into the firm’s recent progress.

The trials aim to evaluate their efficacy in addressing treatment-resistant epilepsy, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), and endometriosis.

The company will supply MRX2 and MRX2T for two Phase 3 epilepsy trials to be conducted by University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The studies, funded by NHS and NIHR, will test the safety and efficacy of the formulations compared to placebo in drug-resistant epilepsy patients.

Phase 2 trials, focusing on MRX1 for CIPN and endometriosis, will be led by the University of Edinburgh with grant funding from the NIHR and the Scottish Government.

A Phase 1 pharmacokinetic study in Australia is also planned for next year. The study will assess the safety, tolerability, and absorption of MRX1, with findings expected to support regulatory filings and intellectual property protections.

Ananda recently raised £2.2 million and capitalized £2 million of debt to reinforce its financial position and fund these trials. This, along with a move to the Apex segment of the Aquis Stock Exchange Growth Market, underscores the company’s commitment to advancing its clinical pipeline.
