NEXE Innovations Inc (TSX-V:NEXE, OTC:NEXNF) announced the appointment of Tom Hoyne as a strategic advisor to support the company’s operations in the coffee segment.
Hoyne brings over 35 years of experience in food operations and manufacturing, including two decades at Kicking Horse Coffee, where he served as vice president of coffee and quality.
During his tenure, Hoyne oversaw key aspects of the business, including quality systems, green coffee sourcing, and roasting operations. He also contributed to the company's growth through its acquisition by Italy’s Lavazza, which purchased an 80% stake in Kicking Horse Coffee for $215 million.
“I have known NEXE since its inception and genuinely believe in their product,” Hoyne said in a statement. “This is a much-needed solution for a growing part of the coffee market.”
NEXE CEO Ash Guglani highlighted Hoyne’s experience as a valuable asset for the company as it scales operations. “His expertise in the coffee industry and managing food operations will be a tremendous asset as we hit production milestones and expand our operations to serve larger customers,” Guglani said.
The appointment comes as NEXE advances its BPI-certified compostable coffee pod product, targeting sustainability concerns in the growing single-serve coffee market.
Separately, NEXE said it plans to attend the Corporate Growth Conference on Nov. 20-21 in Chicago. The event connects operators and investors in the environmental services sector, aligning with NEXE’s plans to expand its proprietary compostable materials and explore additional markets.
