Just the Facts: Lightning Minerals discovers 4.04% Li2O at Esperança Project

Just the Facts: Lightning Minerals discovers 4.04% Li2O at Esperança Project

Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of the latest news from Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M).

The company has discovered spodumene in a lithium-bearing pegmatite at its Esperança Project in Brazil’s Lithium Valley region.

Hand-held Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) analysis of grab samples returned up to 4.04% lithium oxide (Li2O).

The discovery underscores the company’s strategy for exploration across its three recently acquired projects: Canabrava, Caraíbas and Esperança.

During geological mapping, a previously unknown artisanal mine was identified in the Esperança area, revealing spodumene crystals up to 50 centimetres in length. This provides a walk-up drill target for a fully funded drilling campaign set to begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Exploration efforts initiated in June 2024 included geological mapping, reconnaissance, and soil sampling. Early results from the Canabrava project have shown multiple pegmatites and lithium soil anomalies of up to 113 ppm.

Managing director Alex Biggs emphasised the company’s commitment to cost-effective, structured exploration, describing the results as transformational and highlighting the prospectivity of the region.
