Croda International PLC (LSE:CRDA) shares faced a blow on Friday in the wake of Robert F Kennedy Junior’s appointment as US health secretary by president-elect Donal Trump.
Shares in the London-listed chemicals firm dipped 2.9% over the course of the morning after Trump firmed up the controversial appointment on Thursday.
Kennedy, aside from historically taking an anti-vaccination stance, has also previously called for bans on the likes of additives and chemicals to tackle food-related chronic disease.
Trump had said the new Department of Health and Human Services head was the “most important role” in any administration upon announcing Kennedy’s appointment.
“[He] will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products and food additives,” Trump added.
