Itaconix PLC (AIM:ITX, OTCQB:ITXXF) has partnered with France-based Bonals Technologies to advance its SPARX initiative, which seeks to introduce eco-friendly detergent tablets in North America.
Itaconix, a leader in plant-based polymers for sustainable consumer products, will work with Bonals to create safer, high-performing products for the US and Canadian markets.
Bonals, which supplies equipment to major European detergent brands, will support the development of new detergent tablets formulated by Itaconix.
The collaboration will also involve North American detergent suppliers to enhance product quality and environmental impact.
Itaconix launched its SPARX programme in October to generate partnerships with manufacturers and brands focused on sustainability, aiming to bring ten new eco-friendly products to market by 2025.
Through collaborations like the one with Bonals, Itaconix seeks to broaden its range of sustainable solutions within the consumer goods sector.
Dr Jim Gordon, head of Cleaning & Hygiene at Itaconix, said: "We are demonstrating in Europe that formulations using our Itaconix ingredients are contributing to the competitive success of major European contract detergent tableters.
"Interest in tablets is increasing in North America based on the advantages they have for efficient unit dosing, without the use of plastic wrapping.
"By working with Bonals and current North American contract manufacturers in our SPARX program, we aim to enable North American production of detergent tablets that have levels of in-wash performance found in Europe."
