Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) is shuttering its free, ad-supported streaming platform Freevee and moving its content onto Prime Video, the company has confirmed.
Freevee’s content, which includes originals such as Jury Duty, Bosch: Legacy, and Judy Justice, has already been moved over to Prime Video.
In certain markets, new episodes of Freevee shows and older originals will remain free to access for non-Prime customers.
“To deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers, we have decided to phase out Freevee branding,” an Amazon spokesperson says in a statement.
“There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a vast offering of free streaming content will still be accessible for non-Prime members, including select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a broad library of FAST Channels — all available on Prime Video.”
It was reported earlier this year that Amazon was planning on discontinuing the Freevee brand following the introduction of ads on Prime Video in January. Amazon had previously denied reports it would shutter Freevee.
