Nationwide Mutual Insurance is expanding its homeowners insurance programme's use of Ondo InsurTech PLC's (LSE:ONDO) LeakBot to 16 states.
As the name suggests, the device is designed to detect water leaks and will now be available at no cost to both new and existing customers of the US giant.
This expansion follows a successful pilot program in Ohio, where LeakBot was first integrated into Nationwide's Smart Home Program, an initiative to reduce damage claims through smart technology.
Customers in these areas will receive free LeakBot devices and repairs as part of their homeowner policies.
LeakBot has received high customer marks, with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +87 and a satisfaction rating of 4.9 out of 5.
Ondo InsurTech confirmed that its deal with Nationwide includes advance payments to cover rollout expenses, ensuring the roll-out is fully funded.
"This is a major step in our US expansion and a great endorsement from one of the biggest and best insurers in the United States," Ondo CEO Craig Foster.
"Nationwide have been the perfect anchor partner for us in the United States and by taking the lead in the geographic expansion of our solution, make it much easier for other US carriers to also introduce our groundbreaking product to their customers across the United States.
"The fact that the production capacity to handle demand is secured and the fact that this expansion does not create any additional working capital strain are also fundamental to the executability of this rapid growth plan."
