Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO)'s head of quality for commercial airplanes Elizabeth Lund will be retiring in December, the airplane manufacturer said on Monday.
A longtime executive at Boeing, Lund in February was appointed to the new position of senior vice president of quality for commercial planes, a position created after the January 5 mid-air panel blowout on an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9.
Lund led the company’s efforts to address its quality control issues following the incident.
In a memo to staff on Monday, Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO)mmercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope lauded Lund for “her strong leadership during a challenging year and her remarkable contributions to Boeing.”
Lund, who has worked at Boeing for 33 years, commented: “A piece of my heart will always be with this company.”
She will be replaced by Doug Ackerman, who currently serves as vice president of supply chain and fabrication quality.
Boeing shares closed down 1.8% on Monday at about $149.
