International Graphite secures second mining lease; unlocks full Springdale Graphite Project resource

A second mining lease for the Springdale Graphite Project has unlocked the second-largest graphite deposit in Australia for International Graphite Ltd (ASX:IG6), offering unfettered access to the majority of the mineral resource.

The company was awarded M74/0253 by the Western Australia Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety last week covering the high-grade Mason Bay deposit, and has now been granted M74/0252, covering the Central deposit.

Mine-to-market strategy

IG6 is developing its flagship Springdale deposit in parallel with its Collie processing facilities, which were recently certified to International Quality Standard ISO9001:2015 — the most globally-recognised standard for quality management systems.

The certification, issued by SGS Global, covers the processing, assaying and supply of graphite to agreed specifications.

IG6 is currently in the process of producing spherical and micronised graphite at its Collie pilot plant – Springdale’s resource of 3.2 million tonnes of contained graphite has already demonstrated its suitability for battery applications, producing purities of up to 99.99%.

Securing a mining lease over both major deposits at Springdale is another milestone in International Graphite’s plans to build an integrated mine-to-market operation, positioning the company well to meet growing demand for graphite.
