M2i Global (OTC:MTWO) announced the launch of a blockchain-based initiative and the formation of a new company, Ethereum Reserve.
The move positions M2i to hold a significant equity stake in Ethereum Reserve, integrating it as a synergistic and complementary component of M2i's ecosystem.
Ethereum Reserve, seeded by M2i with a significant equity stake, will be structured as a publicly traded entity focused on Ethereum development and treasury management.
The company said in a statement it plans to accumulate Ethereum as its primary reserve asset.
In parallel, M2i plans to implement blockchain technology within its mineral supply chain, creating an immutable ledger that tracks the sourcing, transport, and processing of minerals. By integrating blockchain, M2i aims to assure stakeholders of ethical sourcing and compliance with national defense requirements, adding transparency and security to its supply chain.
M2i has partnered with Komodo Capital, an Australian mergers and acquisitions firm with extensive connections across the mining sector, to support Ethereum Reserve’s development. Komodo will assist in the strategic and financial growth of Ethereum Reserve, leveraging its network across more than 25 mining companies in Australia.
M2i executive chairman Doug Cole explained why the company saw potential in Ethereum to help track and display real-time information on the company’s commodities, and help partners save on costs.
“Our ecosystem is looking at the future of commodity reserves holistically, including both physical and digital commodities,” Cole said in a statement. “That's why we're committing to the Ethereum network as digital oil, enabling an entire ecosystem of offline and online use cases powered by (Ethereum).”
The announcement follows recent US regulatory clarity from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding Ethereum’s status as a non-security, which M2i cites as a critical factor in its decision. “The SEC's stance on Ethereum provides the regulatory certainty we needed to fully embrace this technology,” Cole noted.
M2i aims to become the first U.S.-based entity dedicated not only to holding Ethereum as a reserve asset but also to staking it, with plans to establish one of the largest validation nodes for digital voting rights within the Ethereum ecosystem. Additionally, the company intends to develop Layer-2 applications that leverage Ethereum's extensive blockchain developer community to expand access to global marketplaces.
“We're going to go in a big way,” Cole told shareholders.
M2i Global (OTC:MTWO), through its subsidiary U.S. Minerals and Metals Corp, delivers engineering and research services to secure access to critical minerals essential for national defense and economic security. The company is working with the U.S. Federal Government to establish a Strategic Mineral Reserve, aiming to build a resilient supply chain to address global mineral and metal shortages.
