Clean Power Hydrogen PLC (AIM:CPH2) CEO Jonathan Duffy joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news about the company’s new license agreement with Lisheen H2 Energy Park Limited, known as Hidrigin.
Proactive: Very welcome back inside our Proactive newsroom. Joining me now is Jonathan Duffy. He is the CEO of Clean Power Hydrogen PLC, or CPH2 if you like. Jonathan, good to see you. How are you?
Jonathan Duffy: Yeah, I'm very good. Great to see you as well. Thank you.
Proactive: Big news from the company today regarding a new license and sales contract. Can you tell me a bit about this one?
Jonathan Duffy: Absolutely. We’re excited to announce a two-gigawatt license deal with partners in the Republic of Ireland, specifically in the south. Under this agreement, they’ll be manufacturing electrolysers, totaling two gigawatts of electrolysis capacity. To help initiate the license, we’re also supplying the first electrolyser unit.
Proactive: Usually, you manufacture these yourself. This time, it’s a licensing agreement. How does that differ from your usual approach?
Jonathan Duffy: So our technology is unique because we hold the intellectual property and have various patents on our electrolysis methods. This enables us to license production. We believe that electrolysers are best built near where they’ll be used, not manufactured in one place and then shipped around the world. Licensing allows for that local production, ensuring efficiency.
Proactive: Tell me a bit about this company in Ireland and what they’ll be doing with the MFE220.
Jonathan Duffy: The company is called Hidrigin. They have solar and wind assets they want to link up to green hydrogen production. They already have off-takers lined up, and they’ll convert some of Ireland’s curtailed wind power into green hydrogen using our electrolysers, specifically the MFE220, which is our standard one-megawatt unit.
Proactive: This contract extends over several years, which is great for revenue. Are these types of deals something we’ll be seeing more of?
Jonathan Duffy: Definitely. This is just the start of our commercial journey. Recently, we completed our first successful factory acceptance test, which independently verified our technology. So now, with licensing, we’re ready to expand globally, adding new license holders who can produce our electrolysers where they’re needed most.
Proactive: Finally, having these contracts in place and proving your technology works brings the company to a new level, especially for clients seeking this type of technology.
Jonathan Duffy: That’s the goal. There’s nothing like being able to show a technology that works, something tangible that people can see and trust.
