Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of the latest news from Taiton Resources Ltd (ASX:T88).
The company has acquired the Kingsgate Quartz Project in northern New South Wales, a high-purity quartz asset with recorded silicon oxide purity levels of up to 99.99% and impurities below 100 parts per million. This resource supports industries requiring high-purity quartz, such as solar panel and semiconductor manufacturing. Preliminary sampling shows purity between 99.53% and 99.99%.
A prior trial mining operation identified the potential to extract 100,000 tonnes of quartz annually over ten years. The project also presents exploration opportunities for molybdenum, bismuth and tungsten. Taiton recognises the growing demand for high-purity quartz, noting that high-quality sources cannot be easily replicated. Historically known for its clarity, Kingsgate quartz is set to become Taiton's flagship project.
The quartz deposit’s pipe structures, with diameters of up to 20 metres, make it suitable for underground mining, which could minimise environmental impact compared to traditional methods. Taiton is committed to advancing the project to mining phase as swiftly as possible.
