Roquefort Therapeutics PLC (LSE:ROQ, OTCQB:ROQAF) will present new findings from its STAT-6 siRNA programme at the Advanced Therapy Development Congress in London later on Wednesday.
The biopharmaceutical company focuses on pioneering treatments for immunology and oncology, aiming to disrupt disease processes at the genetic level.
Its research explores a cutting-edge technology known as small interfering RNA (siRNA), which targets specific genes to reduce their activity.
By focusing on the STAT-6 protein, which plays a key role in inflammation and immune responses, Roquefort's research aims to address immune diseases linked to overactive cell signalling.
The STAT-6 protein transmits cellular signals tied to Type 2 inflammation, a factor in asthma and allergies.
Roquefort's latest data demonstrated promising results in reducing STAT-6 levels and associated inflammatory markers in lab models.
The findings show a tenfold decrease in STAT-6 and significant reductions in immune indicators, suggesting potential for controlling harmful inflammation.
This research builds on previous oncology-focused results and highlights Roquefort’s advances in gene-targeting therapies for immune-related diseases, an area increasingly validated by industry partnerships.
