North Bay Resources reports high-grade copper assays at Murex project

North Bay Resources Inc. (OTC:NBRI) revealed new assay results from its Murex copper project in British Columbia, where recent sampling indicated significant copper mineralization.

Assays returned up to 9.5% copper, according to the company’s statement on Monday.

The summer 2024 exploration program focused on geochemical sampling and geological mapping across the main copper-bearing area of the property, including structural fracture patterns near Mill Creek.

The D Zone, previously highlighted by past work, was among the primary focus areas and showed the highest copper grades within five delineated zones previously identified by Noranda.

Other sampling results returned 8.59% and 6.73% copper. The samples also returned gold and silver values, with assays of 0.04 oz/ton gold and up to 3.91 oz/ton silver.

North Bay Resources told investors that the Murex property’s copper-bearing breccia zones are located in a volcanic structure interpreted as a collapsed dome, containing a range of polymetallic mineralization along Mill Creek.

Previous exploration by Standard Oil and Noranda in the 1970s and 1980s established a rich dataset, showing copper-gold deposits across both high-grade veins and larger, lower-grade zones. Notably, historical drill results have included intervals with up to 9% copper and extended mineralized sections up to 390 feet at a 60-degree angle.

In addition to copper, historical surface samples from the property have revealed gold assays of up to 2.1 oz/ton from a separate zone in the northwest, with high-grade gold potential confirmed last fall, according to North Bay’s March 2024 report.
