Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN, OTC:ANDMF) has appointed chemical engineer Miguel J Galindo to its board as a non-executive director.
Galindo has been providing consultancy services to Andromeda since April 2023 including delivering market insights, exploring potential end-use applications for Andromeda’s products and facilitating key customer and market introductions.
Notably, he has championed Andromeda’s Great White kaolin products, coordinating independent testing with the ITC and Iberoclays that confirmed the products' high brightness, colour quality and aluminium-to-iron ratio - characteristics that command premium pricing in high-end ceramic tile and porcelain tableware manufacturing.
Galindo also played a crucial role in Andromeda’s entry into the European market, establishing the connection with IberoClays, which culminated in a binding offtake agreement.
In his new role, he will continue to oversee Andromeda’s European relationships, support customer engagement and assist with product testing and quality demonstrations.
Andromeda’s executive chair Sue-Ann Higgins said: “The company warmly welcomes Miguel to the board. His extensive experience across industrial minerals, high-end ceramics and sales and marketing is a valuable addition to the board, with a skill set which neatly complements those of the current directors.”
Drawing further on Galindo’s expertise
Galindo has a speciality in ceramic technology and brings more than 25 years of expertise in industrial minerals from his tenure at Rio Tinto, covering operations, sales, marketing and general management from which Andromeda can draw from.
He was also the founder and CEO of Galesk Consultancy S.L.U.
Beyond Andromeda, Galindo serves as president of the Spanish Glass & Ceramics Society (SECV) and as a non-executive director at Port-Sur, the largest operator in the Port of Castellon, Spain. He is also a member of the Technical Committee at Qualicer, an international congress on ceramic tile quality.
Pending final formalities, Galindo’s appointment is expected to take effect following Andromeda’s upcoming annual general meeting.
