Ocean Power Technologies secures major US Navy project - ICYMI

Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) recently highlighted strategic advancements in its defense and offshore energy sectors.

Earlier this week, CEO Philipp Stratmann told Proactive about progress on Project Overmatch, an initiative with the US Navy focused on multi-domain operations that deploy multiple unmanned surface vehicles.

Stratmann said this partnership is actively converting demand into revenue, strengthening OPT’s position within defense and security services.

The company sees rising defense sector interest across regions. Stratmann noted that OPT has expanded into the Middle East, where offshore energy needs intersect with security priorities. The company has already entered partnerships with Unique Group and Remah International and has collaborated with a Kuwaiti agency on defense applications, positioning its technology to serve in both energy and security realms.

In the US, Ocean Power Technologies is tapping into the offshore wind industry. With support from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, the company intends to contribute to a local supply chain geared toward vessel monitoring, mammal protection, and traffic management systems. It has joined the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, anticipating that the growing sector will drive opportunities in inspection, maintenance, and other offshore energy services.
