Giyani Metals Corp (TSX-V:EMM, OTC:CATPF) has sponsored and hosted an equipment handover ceremony with the Kanye Community as part of its social outreach initiatives within the communities surrounding its K.Hill battery-grade manganese project in Botswana.
The ceremony, held at the Main Kgotla on October 28, was hosted by the company in collaboration with the Bangwaketse Paramount Chief, the Kanye District Council, the Kanye District Health Management Team, and representatives of People Living with Disabilities (PLWD).
The company provided equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames, and mattresses for differently-abled people within the communities of Kanye and Bangwaketse.
The ceremony follows the P100,000 pledge made by Giyani in July 2024 during the birthday celebration of Bangwaketse Paramount Chief Kgosi Malope II to support the purchase of essential equipment for PWLD in Kanye.
After the ceremony, Giyani representatives visited a school in Kanye for children with disabilities to deepen their understanding of the students' specific needs and to build a direct connection with another community group in need of support.
“We are pleased to be working closely with the Bangwaketse Paramount Chief Kgosi Malope II and the Bangwaketse community in supporting this critical initiative, which enables us to provide essential equipment to empower local people living with disabilities,” Giyani CEO Charles FitzRoy said in a statement.
“This support reflects our commitment to the community where we will operate.”
FitzRoy noted the importance of social license to operate any project and said the company was committed to further deepening its commitments to local communities.
