Electronic Arts ups guidance as American football, Sims games offer boost

Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ:EA, ETR:ERT) (EA) has raised full-year net bookings guidance after its American football titles and ‘Sims’ games provided a boost over the second quarter.

Net bookings climbed 14% to a record $2.079 billion over the three months to September, the video game maker reported on Tuesday.

This came as new player numbers of its American football games, including ‘Madden NFL 25’ and ‘College Football 25’, more than doubled year over year, while net bookings for its ‘Sims 4’ title exceeded expectations.

Net bookings for the year were forecast to sit between $7.5 billion and $7.8 billion as a result, against $7.3 billion to $7.7 billion previously.

American football titles were set to bring in over $1 billion in net bookings over the year, EA said, while its global football franchise was in line for a record year.

Revenue increased by 5.8% to $2.025 billion over the quarter, while net income fell by 26% to $294 million and diluted per share earnings decreased from $1.47 to $1.11.

This was ahead of expectations for earnings to sit between $0.76 to $0.93 on a per-share basis.

“The momentum in our business reinforces our strategic vision to deliver innovative experiences and interactive entertainment that deepens and expands engagement across our global communities,” CEO Andrew Wilson commented.

Shares climbed by 2.1% in pre-market trading.
