Northern Superior Resources Inc. (TSX-V:SUP, OTCQX:NSUPF) announced positive results from its expansion drilling campaign at the Philibert gold property, where it is in the midst of a 20,000-meter drilling program to expand the resource.
The drill program is targeting both the hanging wall and footwall zones southeast of the mineral resource estimate pit, with the objective of expanding known mineralization in previously untested areas.
Among the highlights, one hole intersected 2.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 26.5 meters, including 4.55 g/t over 13.4 meters.
The hole was located 200 meters southeast of the Grey Fox footwall zone, which lies outside the current pit boundary.
Other notable results include 1.86 g/t gold over 9.2 meters in the Grey Fox hanging wall, and 1.28 g/t gold over 13.2 meters, including 3.47 g/t over 3.4 meters.
"We are highly encouraged by the initial results from our expansion drilling campaign at the Philibert project,” said Simon Marcotte, CEO of Northern Superior.
"These results not only demonstrate continuity and consistency but also reinforce Philibert's standing as a cornerstone asset within the rapidly growing Chibougamau Gold District.”
Philbert is located 9 km from IAMGOLD Corporation's Nelligan project and 60 km southwest of Chibougamau, Quebec. Northern Superior holds a 75% stake, with SOQUEM owning the remaining 25%.
The Chibougamau Gold Camp, where the Philibert Project is located, is emerging as a highly prospective gold district, with several deposits now under the control of only Northern Superior and IAMGOLD.
Northern Superior plans to continue drilling to further define and extend these zones.
