Century Lithium Corp. (TSX-V:LCE, OTCQX:CYDVF) has provided investors with an update on advancements at its Angel Island lithium project in Nevada.
Following the completion of a Feasibility Study in April 2024, the company is focusing on optimizing processes to lower estimated capital and operating costs while also addressing environmental studies, permitting, and project funding.
Its Lithium Extraction Facility in Amargosa Valley has been actively producing battery-quality lithium carbonate samples for potential domestic customers.
Testing at the pilot plant is ongoing, including initial tests with third parties for reagent testing, along with the installation of new equipment.
Environmental efforts have progressed with a completed draft hydrologic model and a plan of operations, alongside engagement with consultants for necessary state permits.
On the funding front, Century Lithium said it is in discussions with potential partners for lithium carbonate testing and exploring markets for surplus sodium hydroxide, which could offset production costs.
The company is also compiling information to apply for government funding through the US Department of Energy and Department of Defense.
"Century Lithium is focused on delivering results that will position the company as one of the most advanced opportunities for a new domestic supply of this important and strategic commodity for the EV and battery storage industry," Century Lithium CEO Bill Willoughby said in a statement.
"The State of Nevada has expressed the desire to play a critical role in the clean energy transition, specifically through Nevada's Lithium Loop initiative focusing on local resources to products to recycling. We are working with Century's resources and technology to position us at the forefront of this effort."
