BT Openreach competitor Community Fibre secures £125mln in funding

Community Fibre has secured an additional £125 million in funding from a group of lenders including JP Morgan, Barclays, LBBW, Sequoia Investment Management Company and Alpha Bank.

The BT Openreach full-fibre rival’s latest financing round brings the company's total investment to £1.1 billion, according to a press release.

Graeme Oxby, chief executive of Community Fibre, stated: “Community Fibre has been and will continue to be highly focused on delivering the best customer experience and the best value for money in the market.

“We and our financial backers are aligned on driving acquisition growth and confident in overachieving our penetration targets.”

Community Fibre’s network currently spans 1.3 million properties across London, with around 300,000 existing residential and business customers.

It is one of the multitude of alternative networks, or ‘altnets’ that are competing with the network giant that is BT Openreach.
