Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL) said it was making good progress with divestment plans it put in place to see off a takeover bid from rival miner BHP Group Ltd (LSE:BHP, ASX:BHP).
Duncan Wanblad, chief executive, noted that the platinum (PGM) business Amplats should be demerged by mid-2025 while coking coal is down to the final round of bidders.
Options for diamond arm De Beers look less clear with production being reduced in a tough market.
At the ongoing businesses, copper production dropped by 13% to 181,000t due to the closure of the Los Bronces plant.
Iron ore output rose by 2% due to a third record quarter in a row at Minos-Rio while nickel production was up by 6%.
Elsewhere, PGM third quarter production dropped by 10%, rough diamonds by 25% and coking coal by 6%.
"Our consistent focus on operational excellence continues to deliver stable production in line with our expectations,” said Wanblad, who added that changes to guidance for the full year were upgrades to PGM and nickel production.
