Graphene Manufacturing Group Ltd (TSX-V:GMG, OTCQX:GMGMF) reported new advancements in the commercialization of its THERMAL-XR coating, powered by GMG Graphene.
The product has successfully completed 15,000 hours of corrosion protection testing under the ASTM B117 salt sea spray standard, GMG told shareholders.
The company said it believes that THERMAL-XR is one of the most durable corrosion protection solutions available.
In addition to its corrosion resistance, THERMAL-XR has demonstrated impressive heat transfer capabilities.
Verified by the University of Queensland, the coating can accurately model heat transfer rates within 1% of actual results compared to bare aluminium.
Tests show that THERMAL-XR provides approximately 8.6 times more radiative heat transfer than uncoated aluminium, achieving a rate of 8.15 W/m²K versus 0.95 W/m²K for bare aluminium.
In practical terms, when THERMAL-XR is applied to aluminium, it enhances the material's ability to emit and transfer heat through radiation, a critical factor in many industrial applications where efficient heat dissipation is required.
This capability makes THERMAL-XR particularly beneficial for applications involving heat exchangers, such as in air conditioning systems or industrial processes where enhanced thermal conductivity can lead to improved efficiency and reduced energy consumption.
The coating also enhances overall heat transfer coefficients significantly; it increases natural convection performance from 6.0 W/m²K to 13.2 W/m²K and boosts forced convection performance by about 27%, from 26.6 W/m²K to 33.8 W/m²K, GMG said.
GMG is collaborating with global manufacturers across various industries, including HVAC systems and transportation, to incorporate THERMAL-XR into their products.
"GMG continues to make good progress in testing THERMAL-XR for corrosion protection and heat transfer - our increased understanding of the heat rejection rate of the product allows us to better recognize how it can be of potential value for various types of products in various applications and markets,” CEO Craig Nicol said in a statement.
The company is also preparing a Pre-Manufacture Notice for EPA approval in the US, aiming to broaden its market reach.
