Meta and Zuckerberg litigation falls at the first hurdle

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) and CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw the dismissal of a lawsuit that accused them of misleading shareholders about the safety of children using Facebook and Instagram.

US District Judge Charles Breyer ruled that the plaintiff, Matt Eisner, failed to demonstrate that shareholders suffered financial losses due to Meta’s alleged lack of disclosures.

The judge also noted that Meta was not legally required to detail the extent of sexually explicit content on its platforms or to explain the child protection measures it did not adopt.

Eisner’s attempt to block Meta’s 2024 annual meeting was previously rejected, and this dismissal is final, preventing further lawsuits on this issue.
