Scancell appointment wins City favour as shares rise 11%

The appointment of Dr. Phil L'Huillier as CEO brings essential company development expertise to Scancell Holdings PLC (AIM:SCLP, OTC:SCNLF), enhancing its strong scientific foundation and helping the company progress to its next stage of growth.

That's the verdict of Panmure Liberum, which points to L'Huillier's extensive experience in the biotech sector, previously led CatalYm GmbH through important clinical trials and secured over $200 million in funding.

He has also contributed to the development of several biotech startups, including Achilles Therapeutics and Blink Therapeutics, the boutique investment bank and broker noted, reiterating its 'buy' advice and 23p price target for the shares.

The current CEO, Professor Lindy Durrant, will remain as chief scientific officer and continue on the board, working alongside L'Huillier as the company moves forward with its clinical programmes.

Panmure Liberum noted that Scancell is expecting important data from its SCIB1 cancer immunotherapy trial at the end of this year, with additional results due in early 2025.

The City gave its thumbs up to the changing of the guard, marking the shares 11% higher to 15p - still some way short of the Panmure Liberum valuation.
