Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) will allow enterprises to start making their own AI agents starting next month, the company announced during its AI Tour event in London on Monday.
The company unveiled plans to allow businesses to create their own AI agents using existing large language models as a base in Copilot Studio. The platform’s low-code design allows users to build or customize copilot assistants to meet their needs.
The new agents had been previously available in a private preview after first being announced in May. They will move into a public preview next month.
The company also unveiled a new set of 10 AI agents for its Dynamics 365, its suite of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management apps.
These agents will be targeting sales, service, finance, and supply chain teams, including a sales qualification agent, supplier communications agent, and customer intent and customer knowledge management agents.
During the event, Microsoft's corporate vice president Jared Spataro conducted a demonstration of an AI agent developed for the consulting firm McKinsey.
In a statement, Microsoft said this agent could speed up the client onboarding process by 90% and reduce administrative work by 30%.
“We are excited about the power of copilot agents in taking AI transformations to the next level,” McKinsey senior partner Rodney Zemmel commented.
“We’ve seen early success of our pilot agent that was built for our own organization, in collaboration with Microsoft. And we see tremendous potential for agents to help our clients rewire the way their businesses operate.”
Microsoft's announcement comes ahead of the launch of Salesforce’s competing autonomous AI sales technology later this week.
