Frontier IP portfolio firm The Vaccine Group wins grant for cattle treatment

Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP) has hailed news of portfolio company The Vaccine Group (TVG) being awarded a grant to develop treatment for cattle.

TVG won the £400,000-plus grant from Innovate UK alongside the Animal and Plant Health Agency to develop vaccines for cattle using its novel herpesvirus-based antigen delivery platform.

“I am delighted with this latest grant award for TVG and the collaboration with the Animal and Plant Health Agency,” Frontier IP chief executive Neil Crabb commented.

“The number of awards and the prestigious organisations the company is working with provides a strong validation of its novel technology.”

TVG had been awarded £1 million from Defra last month to develop vaccine candidates for Streptococcus suis in pigs with Plymouth and Cambridge universities.

The latest grant will be used to tackle both bovine respiratory syncytial virus, which is a leading cause of illness in young UK calves, and globally-spreading lumpy skin disease.

Frontier IP owns a 17% stake in TVG. “We are very excited about its potential," said Crabb.
