THG boss Moulding praises BrewDog’s performance

BrewDog co-founder and self-proclaimed ‘captain’ of the craft beer giant has taken to LinkedIn to post some rosy-looking 2023 financial information.

Group revenue grew 14% to £366 million, compared to revenue growth of 13% in the prior year.

A £2.5 million operating loss was significantly better than the £24 million operating loss in 2022 and the £5.5 million operating loss in 2021.

Watt said BrewDog manufactured 367 million cans of beer and welcomed 16.7 million customers into its BrewDog bars.

Full accounts have, however, yet to be published on Companies House since their 30 June due date.

Matthew Moulding, chief executive of e-commerce platform THG PLC (LSE:THG), praised BrewDog’s results, commenting ‘Smashed it” with a celebration emoji under Watt’s LinkedIn post.

“BrewDog was ranked the UK’s 2nd most loved beer brand. Behind Budweiser,” Watt declared, though it was not disclosed where these statistics were sourced from.

YouGov data has BrewDog as the 33rd most popular beer brand, behind Newcastle Brown Ale but in front of Hobgoblin.
