Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) has launched a large-scale surface exploration program at its 100%-owned Filion Gold Project in northern Ontario.
The program will include soil sampling and prospecting across the 261-square-kilometer project, targeting untested mineralization along a 42-kilometer structural corridor.
Initial exploration in late 2023 revealed six significant gold anomalies, with grades up to 1.32 grams per ton (g/t) gold and strike lengths of up to 1,200 meters. These anomalies remain undrilled but are adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway and regional infrastructure, allowing for year-round operations.
Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) plans to expand exploration in 2024, covering 8.8 square kilometers of new ground, focusing on historical geophysical conductors and gold occurrences, including the Millar East occurrence, where historical sampling reported 91.4 g/t gold over 0.3 meters. The company is also using advanced LiDAR technology to uncover previously undocumented trenches and rock outcrops.
CEO Malcolm Dorsey highlighted the “vast” potential for major discoveries, noting the project’s unexplored structural corridor is known for hosting high-grade gold.
"Our 2024 program will focus on testing unexamined conductors, historical gold occurrences, and advancing the significant anomalies from 2023,” Dorsey said in a statement.
“Combined with new LiDAR data revealing untested outcrops and undrilled high-priority targets, this large-scale effort sets the stage for major grassroots discoveries in this highly prospective but underexplored region.”
The project is permitted for drilling, with high-priority targets set for testing in 2024.
