Rome Resources Plc (AIM:RMR, AIM:RMR) said it has completed around 1,336m of drilling at the Kalayi and the Mont Agoma in the DRC as part of the exploration for tin and copper at itsBisie North project.
Seven holes (1,001m) have been completed at Kalayi and one on Mont Agoma with three rigs in operation.
A fourth rig is currently being mobilised at Mont Agoma with overall progress now expected to accelerate as it targets areas below the tropical weathering profile.
The arrival of more hard quarry (HQ) drill rods is anticipated to result in reduced standing time and therefore greater drilling efficiency at Kalayi, it added, where two drill rigs are currently located.
The first batch of diamond core samples has been prepared for export with results expected later this month while a second batch will be ready for transport this week.
Paul Barrett, Rome Resources’ chief executive, commented: “The team are pushing ahead as fast as possible, with each drill hole so far showing promise on both the tin front and, notably in Mont Agoma, on the copper front as well."
