G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX:GMIN, OTCQX:GMINF) announced it has appointed Naguib Sawiris, founder of the La Mancha group, to its board of directors.
Board chairman Louis Gignac Senior welcomed Sawiris to the company, noting that his extensive experience across companies in telecom, real estate, and the mining sector spans many decades.
“His role as strategic investor has helped create billions of dollars in shareholder value, and his ongoing support of G Mining's vision and strategy has been instrumental in transforming G Mining from explorer-developer to an Americas-focused gold producer,” Gignac said.
“He has an impressive track record of identifying investment opportunities, prioritizing proactive sustainability initiatives, and advising growing businesses.”
Sawiris took La Mancha private in 2012 and has since focused on transforming smaller junior miners into leading industry players.
He played a key role in La Mancha's investments in Evolution Mining and Endeavour Mining, helping both grow into multi-billion-dollar mid-tier mining companies.
In addition to his role at La Mancha, Sawiris holds several prominent board positions, including executive chairman of Orascom Investment Holding S.A.E. and chairman of Ora Developers.
He holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s in Technical Administration from the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and has received multiple industry honors, including the "Légion d'Honneur" from France.
In connection with Sawiris’ appointment, Karim Nasr will no longer serve as the La Mancha representative on G Mining’s board.
Gignac thanks Nasr for his leadership and service over the past two years.
