Electric Guitar PLC (AIM:ELEG) has reported the successful first deployment of NFC-enabled Voco technology by its subsidiary, 3radical, at the Grand Designs Live event in Birmingham last week.
The technology, which uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to facilitate data exchange over short distances, allowed visitors at the DIY Home Decor stand to tap their smartphones to engage in a range of interactive experiences.
These included downloading digital brochures, booking appointments, connecting on social media and receiving exclusive discount offers.
By integrating NFC technology, 3radical's Voco platform seeks to bridge the gap between physical and digital touchpoints, providing brands with opportunities to collect valuable intent data and enhance customer engagement.
It aligns with Electric Guitar's broader strategy to maximise the value of first-party data in marketing, enabling businesses to deliver more personalised and measurable customer experiences.
"We are excited to see 3radical's continued innovation in bringing real-world experiences into the digital realm,” chief executive John Regan said in a statement.
“This first use of NFC technology at Grand Designs Live demonstrates the effectiveness of our strategy to combine online and offline data collection methods, ensuring businesses gain real-time, actionable insights to drive better customer engagement.
"With Virtual Realty increasingly blending the digital and physical worlds, it is becoming important for marketers to create experiences which combine physical and digital events."
