Spectral AI Inc (NASDAQ:MDAI) announced the completion of a proof-of-concept module of its wound measurement technology that calculates the total body surface area of a burn wound.
The company said that this technology, now integrated into the company's DeepView System for burn care, offers fast, accurate, and standardized burn size measurements.
It aims to improve upon current methods that are often inaccurate in measuring the wound's three dimensions—distance, area, and volume—leading to better treatment decisions.
Accurate burn size estimation is vital for effective acute burn management, Spectral AI highlighted.
Spectral AI’s technology delivers precise measurements within seconds using the same image capture as DeepView AI-Burn, offering sub-millimetric accuracy without the need for manual markers. This rapid assessment aids clinicians in making more informed treatment decisions.
“Our wound measurement technology delivers a more comprehensive representation of an acute burn injury than currently used methods, and provides a level of accuracy, uniformity, and standardization that we believe has been missing from burn care,” Spectral AI CEO Peter Carlson said in a statement.
