M&S moves to recruit 11,000 workers as busy Christmas period looms

Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LSE:MKS) has unveiled plans to take on an additional 11,000 staff members over the busier Christmas period.

This will see workers join its food, clothing and home departments, with 1,000 extra roles being added compared to last year.

Recruitment is set to begin next week, ahead of workers being added in November to assist with the typically heightened demand over the festive months.

“The Christmas period is a busy but exciting time for M&S and no two days are the same,” operations director Sacha Berendji said.

Berendji noted many staff members historically joined M&S over the Christmas period before being invited to take up more permanent roles.

“Our fantastic store colleagues play such a big part in delivering the magic of M&S at Christmas to our customers.”

“This year we’re recruiting even more colleagues to ensure we’re closer to customers.”
