Georgina Energy preps for December drilling at Hussar helium project

Georgina Energy PLC (LSE:GEX) updated investors on its workflows ahead of its planned start of drilling at the Hussar helium project, in Western Australia, slated for December.

The company highlighted it is working on various fronts, including obtaining land clearances and finalising well management plans.

On the regulatory side, wholly-owned subsidiary Westmarket Oil & Gas has been approved as the operator for the Hussar project by DEMIRS (Australia’s Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety).

Elsewhere, Georgina has entered into a data-sharing agreement to reprocess seismic data, which will provide revised mapping that’s described as critical for the upcoming drilling.

A site inspection is, meanwhile, planned for November to address environmental and heritage requirements – a prerequisite for a drilling permit.

"This is a very busy period for Georgina as we focus on multiple workstreams to fulfil obligations for the Hussar drilling permit in order to commence operations in December,” chief executive Anthony Hamilton said in a statement.

“Additionally, following the successful meeting on 11th September with the CLC and the traditional landowners for the Mt Winter prospect, we expect to receive formal confirmation from both groups shortly.

“Concurrently, we have completed the evaluation of the additional re-entry targets which will shape our post-Hussar and Mt Winter work programme, and have approached several parties regarding potential opportunities."
