Boeing reportedly mulling $10bn stock sale as strikes hit

Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO) is said to be seeking a US$10 billion fundraise through a share issue as cash reserves have been hit by a recent strike among workers.

According to Bloomberg-cited sources, Boeing is working alongside advisors to explore its options and gauge the full effect of the strike.

This has seen around 33,000 of its workers on the US west coast down tools over pay, with no end to the dispute in sight as of yet.

Boeing may yet decide not to raise new funds, reports said, with any share issue unlikely to happen for at least a month.

It comes as Boeing has grappled with scrutiny over its quality control practices this year, following a string of issues with aircraft.

January’s Alaska Air 737 MAX mid-flight door panel blowout had led to a scaling back of production, while regulators most recently warned of rudder component issues on the same models this week.
