The company has reported successful early test results for its CERENERGY® ABS60 prototype battery, surpassing initial expectations. The 60 KWh battery, tested in Germany, uses table salt technology, eliminating reliance on critical metals like lithium, cobalt and copper. The battery demonstrated excellent thermal stability and maintained consistent efficiency and performance over 500 charge-discharge cycles, with an 80 Ah discharge capacity and up to 91% efficiency.
Altech and its German joint venture partner plan to build a 120 MWh production facility in Saxony, Germany, to manufacture grid storage battery modules. The company expressed confidence in the battery’s commercial potential and the ongoing collection of critical real-world data for future offtake agreements.
