London's FTSE 100 looked to build on last week’s gain on Monday as the index moved just above the mark early on.
Making headlines was Aston Martin, as shares in the luxury carmaker plummeted following a cut to profit and volume guidance on growing supply chain disruption.
Rightmove also fell early on after dismissing a fourth takeover offer from Rupert Murdoch’s REA Group, which valued the property portal at £6.2 billion.
Elsewhere, Vodafone said its merger with Three would not be subject to a shareholder vote under new UK listing rules which came into force in July.
And finally, house prices were said to have grown at their fastest pace in two years this month, with Nationwide reporting a 0.7% uptick since August and 3.2% growth over the past year.
