hVIVO PLC (AIM:HVO) has officially launched the full suite of its hLAB standalone services, expanding its virology and immunology laboratory offerings.
Known for its expertise in infectious disease and respiratory product testing, the London-based company announced that its lab services are now available for both preclinical and clinical drug development, marking a significant milestone in its operations.
hLAB has long been a key player in the industry, providing critical support for clinical trials since 1989. However, with the rising demand for hVIVO’s human challenge trials (HCTs), its laboratory capacity was maxed out.
A recent move to a new facility in Canary Wharf has allowed it to triple its lab space, enabling the launch of hLAB as a standalone service offering. Earlier this year, the company secured three contracts, including its first major field study laboratory deal.
The newly expanded laboratory includes a cutting-edge Containment Level 3 (CL-3) facility, which has now received clearance from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
This allows hLAB to work with hazard group 3 pathogens, including high-risk viruses and bacteria. Alongside this, hLAB has broadened its assay portfolio to accommodate new pathogens such as Omicron, human metapneumovirus (hMPV), and additional strains of influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
hLAB’s expanded services also include a new biobank, approved by the UK Research Ethics Committee. This resource will offer invaluable biological samples to researchers focusing on vaccine development, immunology, and respiratory research, further cementing hVIVO’s position as a leader in the CRO industry.
