Majestic Corp CEO Peter Lai on recycling's future; Telecycle acquisition

Majestic Corporation Plc (AQSE:MCJ) founder and CEO Peter Lai speaks with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s role in revolutionising recycling within the precious and base metals sector. Founded in 2018, Majestic Corporation specialises in sustainable circular economy solutions, focusing on recycling valuable metals from electronic waste. Lai explained the company’s three core sources for extracting materials like gold, copper, and platinum—computer circuit boards, electronic goods, and industrial waste.

Lai highlighted how the recycling industry is projected to grow significantly, driven by increasing demand for materials due to upgrades in infrastructure like data centres and consumer electronics. Majestic’s recent conditional acquisition of Telecycle strengthens its position in the UK, one of the world’s largest producers of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Lai emphasised that recycling not only offers a cost-effective alternative to mining but also supports sustainability efforts by reintroducing valuable metals into the supply chain. He mentioned that recycling is more crucial than ever, with high interest rates and macroeconomic challenges slowing the development of new mining operations. Majestic’s acquisition of Telecycle marks a major step forward in the UK market.
