OpenAI CEO Sam Altman dismissed claims that he is set to receive a large equity stake, calling the information "just not true", according to CNBC, reporting feedback from an all-hands staff meeting.
Both Altman and CFO Sarah Friar acknowledged investor concerns about Altman not holding equity in the highly valued AI company, though Altman confirmed that there are no current plans to grant him any.
Chairman Bret Taylor stated that while the board has discussed the potential benefits of compensating Altman with equity, no specific figures or decisions have been made.
The meeting followed talks of a possible restructuring of OpenAI into a for-profit entity, with its non-profit arm remaining separate.
The company has recently experienced several high-profile departures, including CTO Mira Murati, research chief Bob McGrew, and VP Barret Zoph.
Altman attributed these exits to personal decisions rather than restructuring, stating it’s a natural transition for the company as it continues to evolve and grow rapidly.
